Switching to linear switches, a month later
19 Oct 2026
After years on tactile switches I swapped my board to linears. Hot-swap sockets made it a one-evening job.
The first week felt mushy and I kept bottoming out. By the third week I stopped noticing, and typing is noticeably quieter, which my neighbours probably appreciate more than I do.
Would I do it again
Yes, but I kept the old switches in a box. For long writing sessions I still slightly prefer a tactile bump. For everything else linears are fine.
